80 criminal gangs active in Haryana-Delhi NCR: High level meeting of DGPs of 7 states; Joint team to be formed for sharing database

A high level meeting of the Directors General of Police of seven states, NIA, NCB, Narcotics Control Bureau Haryana and Special Task Force Haryana officials was organized in Panchkula to stop drug trafficking, organized crime control, crackdown on gangsters and other criminal activities in the states of North India including Haryana. In this meeting, mutual coordination was discussed to stop criminal activities in seven states – Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand etc. All the seven states will form a joint team, will appoint a nodal officer. In the meeting, detailed discussions were held mainly on stopping drug trafficking. It was told in the meeting that money is collected through drugs in criminal activities and terrorism etc., which is a matter of concern. It was also discussed in the meeting that how youth are targeted by criminals for the movement of drugs. The need for good coordination between all the states to curb drug trafficking was emphasized. All the officials agreed that a joint team of states should be formed to share the data of criminals among the states, so that work can be done by establishing mutual coordination. All the states will appoint nodal officers in the SP rank in their state for better implementation of the Inter-State Drug Secretariat, so that information will be exchanged in real time. NCB Director said – Routes of drug smuggling will have to be identified. Through presentation in the meeting, NCB Deputy Director General Sambit Mishra said that there is a need to identify the routes of drug smuggling, so that all the states can stop the smuggling of opium and other narcotics across the border. Drugs are the main source of income of organized crime. Haryana state has done an excellent job in the detention of habitual criminals. We have to work in an organized manner for a drug-free India. The need to keep an eye on social media was told. In the meeting, NIA DIG Santosh Kumar Meena said that it is very important to identify criminals to stop organized crime. He told that criminals especially target youth through different platforms and involve them in the criminal activities of the gang. He said that many times the youth get influenced by glamorization and become a part of their gangs. In such a situation, it is important to keep a close watch on such accounts being circulated through social media. 80 gangs active in Haryana, gangs run from abroad Giving information about organized violent crime in the state, SP Special Task Force, Wasim Akram said that currently 80 criminal gangs are active in Haryana, out of which eight big gangs are such that ransom etc. is demanded in the area of ??Delhi NCR. All the gangs have made their points of contact abroad and are running their gangs from there. Organized efforts of the police of all the states are extremely necessary in this direction. These notorious criminals are hiding in countries like Dubai, Pakistan, Armenia, Bangkok, Thailand as well as America, Portugal and Canada, for bringing them back the police is in touch with Interpol. Their deportation will be done soon by the state police. It was told that at present 35 look out notices have been issued by the Haryana Police, while 22 passports have been revoked. Inter-state drug secretariat to be set up in Panchkula An agenda has been prepared in this meeting to stop crime and drug trafficking, which will be discussed in detail. To root out the growing inter-state drug trade in the northern states of the country, a meeting was held in Haryana Niwas Chandigarh in the year 2018 under a joint strategy, in which apart from Haryana, the then Chief Ministers and Directors General of Police of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, National Capital Territory of Delhi and UT Chandigarh participated. It was decided that the Inter-state Drug Secretariat will be set up at the Panchkula headquarters of the State Crime Branch, Haryana. This will be the work of the Drug Secretariat The Inter-state Drug Secretariat located in the State Crime Branch, Panchkula has been established to increase mutual coordination among different states, share information related to drug trafficking, establish sources, routes and contacts related to the supply of drugs in the respective states. Kapoor informed that working in this direction, all the concerned Director General of Police and other senior police officers are brainstorming on sharing of real-time intelligence, better coordination and use of technology to deal with the increasing challenges posed by increasing drug smuggling and organized crime in the areas adjoining the state’s border.
