A bomb blast took place in Jamia Haqqaniya Madrasa on Friday, a day before Ramadan in Pakistan. This attack was done by targeting Hamidul Haq Haqqani, son of the godfather of Taliban. He died in the attack. Apart from this, 4 more people have also been killed. The incident took place in Akora Khattak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state. Local police officer Abdul Rashid said that 20 people were injured in the bomb blast. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. He said that the police is investigating the matter. After the incident, emergency has been imposed in all the major hospitals of Peshawar. According to the report of Sama TV, in the initial investigation it seems to be a suicide bomb blast. A part of the mosque has also been damaged in this. According to the IG of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this attack was done by targeting Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani. Maulana Hamidul Haqqani is the eldest son of Maulana Samiul Haq Haqqani, the godfather of the Taliban. Senior Haqqani was a staunch supporter of the Afghan Taliban. He founded Darul Uloom Haqqania, one of the most influential Islamic madrasas in Pakistan, in 1947. Samiul Haq founded the Taliban and trained many Taliban leaders including Mullah Omar. Maulana Samiul Haqqani was assassinated by unknown assailants in 2018. Haqqani went to Afghanistan last year
Haqqani visited Afghanistan last year and met Taliban leaders. Haqqani had said that the purpose of his visit was to improve relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Jamia Haqqania Madrasa has been accused of promoting terrorism. Students of this madrasa are accused of being involved in the assassination of former Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto. However, the madrasa has clearly denied any links with the attackers.
