Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay said that women need more respect than worship. They should be given respect. Where women are respected, God resides there. We have to change the mindset. Gender equality is still incomplete. Justice Upadhyay was present at the Delhi State Legal Service Authority (DSLSA) program on Tuesday. The Chief Justice further said that even today women have not got full respect and equality in the society. We need to bring change. Supreme Court Justice KV Vishwanathan was also the chief guest at this program. Many justices of Delhi High Court were also present. DSLSA has started the Veerangana Project. Under which women are being prepared as Para-Legal Volunteers (PLV). These women will join legal aid work after two days of training. This scheme includes victims of sexual crimes and acid attacks, transgenders, female sex workers, victims of child sexual abuse (now adults), social workers and members of other civil organizations. DSLSA member secretary Rajiv Bansal said that the selected para-legal volunteers (PLVs) will be paid on the basis of their service period. The aim of this project is not only to provide legal aid but also to empower women. It is also to ensure the protection of their rights. He further said that out of 250 women, 104 were selected, but 80 women have joined the training. DSLSA will celebrate International Women’s Day from March 4-8. Hotel management course for crime victim women
Under the Veerangana project, 40 sexual crime victims will be given a food and beverage course at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) located in Pusa, Delhi. The fee for this course is Rs 1.25 to 1.5 lakh, but the institute has decided to make it absolutely free. This batch will start from March 8.
