Indian-origin American student Sudiksha Konanki disappeared from the Caribbean island Dominican Republic last Thursday. Now it is believed that she has died due to drowning. ABC News has given this news quoting local officials. Three officials involved in the investigation said that Konanki was walking on the beach with six people on March 5, after which she probably drowned in the sea. Sudiksha had reached Punta Cana town of Dominic for holidays last week. Dominican local officials had also put up posters at various places in search of Sudiksha, in which it was told that a 20-year-old girl has disappeared while walking on the beach. Her height is 5 feet 3 inches. She was last seen on March 6. Most of the people who had gone with Sudiksha had returned at night, but she had stayed on the beach with a friend. Police suspect that during this time she went swimming in the sea and got caught in the wave. People last saw Sudiksha walking on the beach at the Riu Republica resort in Punta Cana on March 6. The last video footage of her on the beach is from 4:15 am on March 6. Sudiksha’s family has been living in the US since 2006 and is a permanent resident there. Her father Subbarayudu Konanki said that my daughter wanted to make a career in the medical field. Sudiksha was graduating from the University of Pittsburgh. According to Sudiksha’s LinkedIn profile, she was graduating in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to this, she studied at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia. University officials of Pittsburgh said that they are working closely with Sudiksha’s family and officials in Virginia.
