Jain community protests against demolition of temple in Mumbai: BMC takes action before court hearing; People said- we are not weak, we will build the temple there

The 90-year-old Parshvanath Digambar Jain temple in Kambliwadi, Vile Parle East, Mumbai was demolished by the BMC team on April 16. Before this action, the Municipal Corporation had sent a notice to the temple. Against which the Jain community had also filed a petition. The hearing on this was to be held on April 17. The action of the Brahmamumbai team was taken before the hearing. Due to this, the people of the Jain community have become aggressive. They expressed their anger in a non-violent way on Saturday. Thousands of women and men were seen shouting slogans on the streets. Everyone protested against the BMC by tying a black band. People were shouting slogans – We are not weak, we will build the temple there. Local people allege that the Jain temple was demolished at the behest of the owner of Ram Krishna Restaurant. He wanted to start a bar in the premises, but could not get the license due to the temple. Therefore, he found out the issues related to the land of the temple and got it demolished. However, in this case, Commissioner Bhushan Gagarani said that the ward in-charge Navnath Ghadge has been transferred with immediate effect. Navnath had sent a team from K-East ward to demolish the temple. Shah said that this temple was from the 1960s and it was renovated with the permission of BMC. He claimed that there was a government proposal, which said that such a temple can be regularized. You only have to submit a proposal for regularization to BMC and we had given it to BMC. Mangalprabhat Lodha said – Protection of religion is the responsibility of all of us Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha also participated in the demonstration of the Jain community. Lodha had condemned this action of BMC. He wrote in the post- ‘It is the responsibility of all of us to protect religion. Our revered Bhagwan Parshvanath Jain temple has been demolished in Vile Parle, this is not just a building but an attack on our faith, culture and religion. This rally is to show our solidarity. Congress said- this is a pre-planned conspiracy Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad has called it a conspiracy. Varsha said, “What is the demand of the Jain community? Action should be taken against the officials who demolished the temple. Their demand is right. Two JCBs were brought. Women were attacked. The Jain community is peaceful. Have you ever heard its voice. But today they also had to take to the streets. Rallies of the Jain community are being held in Rajasthan and Mumbai. Surprisingly, MLAs and ministers of the ruling party also joined this rally. This is their government. It is their job to maintain the place of faith. However, this does not seem to be happening.
