5 people were killed and more than 700 were injured in an explosion at Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port on Saturday. According to media reports, initial investigations have revealed that the accident occurred due to negligence in the storage of flammable materials at the site. Iranian officials said that the explosion took place at the Sina Container Yard of Shahid Rajai Port, just outside Bandar Abbas Port. Transport containers are stored here, which also has oil and other petrochemical facilities. Rescue workers are trying to evacuate people from the accident site. Iranian media says that no energy infrastructure has been damaged due to the explosion.
