Pakistan had put pressure on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to remove the name of The Resistance Front (TRF), the organization that carried out the Pahalgam terror attack, from the statement. According to reports, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has admitted this in a statement given in the Senate on Wednesday. Pakistan is currently a temporary member of the United Nations Security Council. The Security Council’s condemnation statement requires the consent of all members. America proposed to condemn the attack Ishaq Dar said that America had put forward a proposal to condemn the attack. He said that when I got a copy of the proposal, only Pahalgam was written on it and The Resistance Forum (TRF) was named for the attack. Dar further said that we protested against this and said that Pakistan would not sign it until Jammu and Kashmir is also mentioned along with Pahalgam and the name of TRF is not removed. Dar said that he did not sign this proposal for 2 days. During this time he kept getting calls from many countries. UNSC issued a resolution without the name of TRF Ishaq Dar said that leaders from around the world kept telling him that not passing a condemnation resolution would put the blame on Pakistan. Despite this, he stood firm on his claim. Eventually, under pressure from Pakistan, the resolution was changed and then the UNSC issued a statement on 25 April. However, on April 26, TRF denied this. The organization’s spokesperson Ahmed Khalid had said that it is wrong to blame TRF for the Pahalgam attack. Khalid said that his website was hacked. TRF came into existence after the removal of Article 370. This organization came into existence in 2019. The government believes that it is a proxy terrorist organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Apart from killing soldiers and civilians, this terrorist organization has been involved in smuggling of drugs and weapons across the border. ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) is a new name among the terrorist organizations of Jammu and Kashmir. Its activity has increased after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. Security experts say that ISI handlers from across the border set up TRF with the help of Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to former DGP SP Vaid, there is nothing new in TRF, only the cadres of Jaish and Lashkar have been given a new name. These names keep changing as per the strategy of ISI.
