Maharashtra has emerged as the top state by scoring the highest marks (56.5%) on 7 parameters like state economy, financial condition of the government, infrastructure, financial growth, social, governance and environment. This assessment and ranking has been done by rating agency CareAge. After Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka were on the second and third positions in this state ranking. Western and southern states dominate the top level of the composite ranking. On the other hand, Goa topped the list of northeastern, hilly and small states with 62% marks. MP, Jharkhand and Bihar from bottom to top In the survey, Madhya Pradesh got 15th, Jharkhand 16th and Bihar 17th position. These three states were at the bottom among the 17 big states. Chhattisgarh got 11th and Rajasthan 12th ranking in the table. This is only the second edition of CareAge’s state ranking. In this, states are evaluated on the basis of 50 indicators on 7 scales – economic, fiscal, infrastructure, financial growth, social upliftment, governance and environment.
