Mumtaz broke her silence on Yash Chopra’s proposal: She said- He asked me to marry him many times, but I refused

Veteran actress Mumtaz and Yash Chopra worked together in the film ‘Aadmi Aur Insaan’. It is said that Yash was once madly in love with Mumtaz and wanted to marry her. Now recently Mumtaz talked about her relationship with Yash Chopra. She said that Yash Chopra used to come to her house often and also proposed her for marriage again and again. In a conversation with journalist Vicky Lalwani, Mumtaz was asked whether it is true that Yash Chopra liked her and followed her. In response to this, she said, ‘Not once, but he must have asked me for marriage a thousand times. But I did not love him, so how could I marry him? I am saying a thousand times, I am exaggerating a bit. But he had told me many times that hey Moti, I love you yaar, marry me. But see, a relationship with someone is formed only when you love that person. You like being close to that person and for this there should be chemistry between both of you. If there is no chemistry, how can you live like a married couple? There was never that chemistry between me and him.’ Mumtaz said, I liked Yash Chopra as a director and producer. But their relationship never went beyond that limit. As a human being, he was one of the best people. He always made people laugh on the set. When he died, I cried a lot. I was in London at that time. Shortly before his death, he called me and asked me to definitely watch his new film. He asked me to promise that I would watch this film. I said yes. But then he left. I was very sad, because he was a very good person. Mumtaz further said, ‘I don’t understand why he left so soon. I don’t know what disease he had. I am sure that his family must have tried their best to save him, but they could not save him. At a party, his daughter-in-law Rani Mukherjee met me and said that Yash ji wanted you to come to the studio. When will you come? I will show you the entire studio. I really wanted to see the studio because that was his last wish. But now calling and asking for a tour doesn’t seem right to me.’ He died at the age of 80. In 2012, Yash Chopra had dengue, after which he was admitted to the hospital. But he died due to multiple organ failure. He was 80 years old.
