Domestic air passengers increased by 9% to 1.45 crore in March: 64% flights were of IndiGo, which is also the most punctual; Bigfly had the most cancelled flights

The number of passengers of domestic airlines in India increased by 10.35% to 4.32 crores in January-March. 3.91 crore air passengers traveled in January-March 2024. According to the data of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a record more than 1.45 crore people traveled by air within the country in March. This is 8.79% more than March 2024. During that time 1.34 crore passengers traveled in domestic airlines. Indigo’s passenger count increased by 17.7% to 2.8 crores in January-March. A year ago this number was 2.36 crores. Indigo is the most punctual airline, Big Fly’s flights were cancelled the most. The market share of Indigo, the largest airline in the domestic market, increased by 0.3% in March 2025 as compared to February to reach 64% in March. At the same time, the stock of Air India Group has declined by 0.6%. Apart from being the top performing airline, IndiGo has also been the most punctual this time. 88.1% flights of the airline were on-time. 87% and 82% flights of Akasa and Air India Group were also on time. Last month, 1.45 crore people travelled by domestic airlines. This figure was 1.40 crore in February. In terms of flight cancellations, Bigfly is on top with 44.01% cancellations. Whereas, 0.15% flights of Air India were cancelled in March.
