US President Donald Trump has announced the reopening of Alcatraz prison. He said on social media on Sunday that he would keep the most dangerous criminals here. Trump said that he has ordered the Justice Department, FBI and Homeland Security to remodel Alcatraz together. Trump said that reopening Alcatraz means restoring law and order in the true sense. The US recently signed an agreement with the Central American country El Salvador to keep violent criminals and illegal immigrants. Trump said that keeping dangerous criminals in the country becomes a compulsion because many ‘rogue judges’ repeatedly call prisoners to appear during the hearing of the case. This increases the burden on the country. America’s most dangerous criminals were kept in this prison. Alcatraz was counted among the toughest prisons in America, where the most dangerous prisoners were kept. It is also known as ‘The Rock’. It is located on an island in San Francisco Bay, California. This prison was in use from 1934 to 1963. It was closed due to high expenses and maintenance problems. The prisoners here were kept under strict surveillance. They were not allowed to talk to each other. Many prisoners were kept alone in dark rooms for months. Due to this, the prisoners living there developed mental illnesses. The most famous incident of escape from prison happened 63 years ago. Many prisoners tried to escape from the prison, most of whom were killed or caught. The most famous case of escape from Alcatraz happened on 11 June 1962. Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin escaped from jail. The story of the escape of these prisoners started in the year 1960 when a prisoner named Frank Morris was brought to jail. He befriended three other prisoners in this jail, John Anglin, Clarence Anglin and Allen West. In December 1961, these four made a plan to escape from jail. Actually, they saw that there was a mesh in the ventilation in the jail room, from where one could get out. The jail was built on an island. These four prisoners dug in their cell with spoons and a drill and made a way to the ventilation shaft. To escape, they made a boat by joining more than forty raincoats. They used hot pipes to join it. To deceive the security personnel, they kept fake heads made of paper, hair and soap on their beds so that it looked like they were sleeping. On the night of 11 June, these prisoners came out of the tunnel made in the cell and reached the roof of the jail and then went down to the beach with the help of pipes. However, one of these prisoners, Allen West, could not do this. It is said that he could not remove the plaster from the wall at the last moment. After this, leaving him, the rest of the prisoners escaped from the jail. They launched the boat made of their raincoats into the water and tried to cross the sea.
