The stock market was bullish today, i.e. Wednesday, 14 May, the third trading day of the week. The Sensex closed at 81,331, up 182 points. Nifty also rose by 89 points. It closed at 24,667. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 21 closed higher. Tata Steel stock closed up 3.95%, Tech Mahindra 2.26% and Zomato 2.20%. A total of 6 stocks, including Maruti and Infosys, rose up to 2%. Whereas, Tata Motors, Asian Paints and Kotak Bank fell up to 1.7%. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 39 were bullish. The highest gains were in the metal sector at 2.46%, realty at 1.70%, IT at 1.34%, media at 1.27%, oil and gas at 1.22% and auto at 0.82%.

At the same time, Sun Pharma, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, SBI and Tech Mahindra rose marginally. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 35 declined. NSE’s IT index saw the biggest decline of 2.42%. Auto, realty, metal and FMCG indices fell by 1 per cent. At the same time, media, banking and healthcare sectors saw a rise of 1.5%.
