Justice BR Gavai reached Mumbai for the first time on Sunday after becoming the Chief Justice of India. The Chief Secretary, DGP and Mumbai Police Commissioner did not come to receive him. CJI Gavai said, ‘I do not want to talk about such minor issues, but I am disappointed that the senior officers of Maharashtra do not follow the protocol. The three pillars of democracy are equal and they should show respect to each other.’ The CJI said, if the Chief Justice of India is coming to Maharashtra for the first time, then it is expected that the Chief Secretary, DGP and Mumbai Police Commissioner should be present here. During this, Justice Gavai said that when the head of an institution is coming to the state for the first time, especially when he is also from the same state, then he should think for himself whether the behavior that was done was right or not.
