Famous Hollywood singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has been sued for posting her own photos without permission. Lopez is accused of sharing photos of a Hollywood party without permission. Now the photographer of these photos and a paparazzi agency have sued her. The case dates back to January this year, when Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair party was held a night before the Golden Globes in Los Angeles. Lopez attended this party. These photos were taken by photographer Edwin Blanco. He was working for a paparazzi agency named Backgrid. Now both have filed separate lawsuits. They say that they have the copyright of these photos and Lopez used them without permission. The lawsuit states that Lopez posted these photos on her social media with the caption “GG Weekend Glamour”. The purpose was to promote her public appearance, increase engagement on social media and strengthen brand value. Compensation of about Rs 1.25 crore was demanded for one photo
Backgrid and photographer Blanco have demanded compensation of up to $1,50,000 (about Rs 1.25 crore) for each photo. They have claimed that Lopez was using these photos to promote her fashion designer, jewellery and brand partnerships. Lopez did not sign the deal
According to BBC report, according to the law, the person appearing in any photo is not its owner. The copyright of the photo usually belongs to the photographer or the agency for which he is working. It is being told that the agency had contacted Lopez’s team and tried to reach an agreement.
