Rachel Gupta, the first Indian to win the title of Miss Grand International and a 20-year-old model from Jalandhar, has returned her crown. She has posted an emotional 56-minute video on her social media accounts and while crying, has made serious allegations against the organization like “toxic environment, breach of promise and abuse”. Rachel won this title in the competition held in Bangkok in October 2024. Earlier, she represented India on the international stage by becoming the winner of the Miss Grand India 2024 competition held in Jaipur in August 2024. In an emotional message shared on social media on Wednesday night, Rachel wrote – This decision was not easy to take, but it was right for me. I started this journey full of pride and hope to represent my country but in the months that followed I had to face silence, disrespect, and neglect.” Rachel also released a 56-minute video on Wednesday-Thursday midnight in which she shared her experiences of seven months. Rachel alleged, “One needs votes to win, for which countries give money in the form of donations. When she came to know, she did not have any money, so she participated in the contest without any money and won due to public support. The way Miss Grand International Organization treats women, it is not possible to work with them. They only care about money.” Rachel was taunted about her weight and said that she was harassed about her weight. Once a representative was sent to her, who was pinching her at different places and saying, oh you need to lose weight from here. The organization issued a statement After the protest from Rachel, the Miss Grand International Organization has also issued a statement. They say – Miss Grand International Organization has announced that Rachel Gupta’s title of “Miss Grand International 2024” is being terminated with immediate effect. This decision has been taken because Rachel Gupta did not fulfill her prescribed duties, participated in external projects without permission and refused to join the official trip to Guatemala. For this reason the organization has decided to take back her title. Now Rachel Gupta is not allowed to use this title or wear the crown associated with it. We request that she return this crown to the head office of Miss Grand International within 30 days. The family will come in front of the media soon, Rachel Gupta said She gained international recognition by winning the title of Miss Super Talent of the World in Paris in 2022.
