Air India has terminated the contract with Turkish Technic, the company that maintains its Boeing 777 aircraft. This decision has been taken after Turkey supported Pakistan. The company’s CEO and MD Campbell Wilson told NDTV, if there is a problem in continuing the business in the current situation, then we will look for alternatives. We want to respect the sentiments of the public. The CEO said that some aircraft have already been sent to Turkey for maintenance. For servicing the remaining aircraft, options like the Indian government’s company AIESL, Abu Dhabi and Singapore are now being looked at. In fact, after Operation Sindoor, Pakistan attacked India, in which Turkish drones were used. Since then the government has been taking a tough stand against Turkish companies. Indigo will also end the agreement Earlier, the Director General of Civil Aviation i.e. DGCA said on May 30 (Friday) that Indigo’s lease duration with Turkish Airlines is being extended for the last time for only three months. After this it will not be extended. DGCA has also asked IndiGo to end the lease agreement with Turkish Airlines. An appeal was also made to the government to stop IndiGo’s aircraft leasing deal with Turkish Airlines. Company will follow all government rules: CEO Earlier, IndiGo CEO Peter Albers had said on Friday that the company will follow all government rules related to wet leasing, as the airline is operating wet-leased aircraft of Turkish Airlines. Under the wet leasing arrangement, the airline providing the aircraft handles responsibilities such as crew, maintenance and insurance. Albers assured that IndiGo will make alternative arrangements giving priority to the convenience of passengers. Security clearance of Turkiye’s company Celebi was cancelled on May 15. On May 15, aviation security regulator BCAS cancelled the security clearance of Turkiye’s company Celebi Airport Services India Private Limited “in the interest of national security”. This step was taken a few days after Turkey supported Pakistan and condemned India’s attacks on terrorist camps in the neighboring country.
