Two inmates killed a prisoner in the lockup of Saket Court in Delhi on Thursday. According to Delhi Police, the incident of assault took place in Kharja No. 5 of Saket Court lock-up on June 5. Jitendra and Jaidev were lodged in Tihar Jail No. 8 and were brought for production for proceedings. Aman was brought to the lock-up for court appearance. At the time of the incident, many prisoners including Aman were present inside the Kharja. These people kicked and punched Aman and slammed his head against the wall. Delhi Police said that the fight between Jitendra and Aman was due to old enmity, which took place in 2024, when both of them were out of jail. At that time Aman had attacked Jitendra and his brother with a knife. A team has been formed to investigate the matter, including why the security personnel present in the lock-up delayed action. Jaidev strangled Aman Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan said several undertrial prisoners were present in the lock-up when Aman was attacked by Jitendra alias Jitte and Jaidev alias Bachcha. Aman suffered serious injuries in the attack and was immediately taken for a medical examination but was declared dead during treatment. The body has been sent for post-mortem. A case of murder is being registered. Further investigation is underway.
