Woman advocate reaches Supreme Court against Gurugram Police: Demand for CBI investigation, allegations of sexual harassment against SHO

A woman advocate has approached the Supreme Court in a case of indecent behaviour and sexual harassment at Sector-50 police station in Gurugram. The case was listed in a bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice AG Masih on Thursday. AOR Surya Nath Pandey appeared on behalf of the woman lawyer. He told the court that on May 21, she had gone to Gurugram in a marriage case. During this time, a quarrel broke out between the two parties. When the woman lawyer went to the police station and complained about the whole matter to the SHO, instead of listening to her, the SHO started threatening her. The SHO not only misbehaved with her, but also committed serious sexual harassment. The SHO abused his position and tortured her physically and mentally. Accused of not giving FIR on police, the court asked to produce a copy of the FIR registered against his client by the Gurugram police officials. On which the petitioner’s lawyer told the court that a copy of the FIR was sought, but the investigating officer did not provide it. He said that the court’s direction is required to obtain the FIR. However, the bench asked to make a formal application before the concerned Chief Judicial Magistrate for this. The court has listed the hearing of the case for tomorrow i.e. June 6 to present the FIR. Demand for investigation by CBI He told that the petitioner is a practicing advocate and an executive member of Tis Hazari Bar Association. The cases registered against him by Gurugram police officers were demanded to be investigated by an independent agency CBI, Delhi Police or a retired judge. Apart from this, disciplinary action should be taken against Gurugram police officers. This is the whole matter According to the woman advocate, on May 21, 2025, she had gone to Sector-50 police station in Gurugram with one of her clients in connection with a matrimonial matter. When the victim was about to lodge a complaint against his wife, the police officers allegedly prevented him from doing so and assaulted the petitioner. The petitioner claims that two male officers at the police station sexually harassed him and he was illegally detained and the female officers beat him up. Allegedly, the police officers also gave him some liquid to drink, but he refused to drink it. It is alleged that after the incident, the woman advocate was taken to a hospital in Gurugram but was brought back without preparing the MLC (Medico-Legal Certificate). The next day, she gave a written complaint at Tis Hazari police station in Delhi but no action was taken on it. She lodged a Zero FIR against the Gurugram police officials at Sabzi Mandi police station. Accusing the police of causing harm, the victim, fearing further harassment, false cases and physical harm by the Gurugram police officials, has approached the Supreme Court and has demanded transfer of all the three FIRs to one place and police protection.
