The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has warned people against fraud in the name of installing mobile towers. Fraudsters are sending messages to people and charging money for installing towers. News agency PIB Fact Check has called these messages fake and advised people to be cautious. DoT has said that no such message has been sent by it and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Fraudsters are asking for a deposit of Rs 5,000 by sending notices.
Cyber criminals lure people to install mobile towers on the roof of the house or on empty land in exchange for monthly rent. They prepare a letter that looks like a government order. Its language also looks exactly like a government document. In this, Rs 5,000 is asked to be deposited in the account of the company’s lawyer in exchange for installing the tower.
