The hearing on the cancellation of the criminal case registered against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium will be held on June 12. The franchise had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court on Monday, saying that it has been falsely implicated in this case. RCB has argued that false allegations have been leveled against it. It was clearly stated on social media that entry passes are limited. The gates of the stadium were to open at 1:45 pm but were opened at 3 pm, due to which the crowd outside the stadium kept increasing. In fact, 11 people lost their lives and 75 were injured in the stampede in Bengaluru on June 4. Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty appealed to the court that all the petitions related to the stampede case should be heard together on June 10. Event organizer DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd has also filed a separate petition challenging the FIR against it. The company says that the police could not handle the crowd. This is why the stampede happened. Now both these cases will be heard on June 12. The court was hearing a petition challenging Nikhil Sosale’s arrest on June 6. The lawyer told the court that Nikhil Sosale lives in Ashok Nagar police station area. Chinnaswamy stadium comes under Cubbon Park police station area. But Nikhil was arrested by Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch. This was not part of the investigation, because the CM had said that CCB arrested him. However, CCB is not investigating the case. Siddaramaiah cabinet will decide on shifting the stadium out of the city After the stampede in front of Chinnaswamy stadium, the demand to shift the stadium has gained momentum. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that the government will examine the proposal to shift the cricket stadium out of Bengaluru city. PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi said that he has asked for the file and the cabinet has to take a decision in this regard. He also said that the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is paying very less lease amount to the government. On the question of land being given by the PWD department for the stadium, he said, “We do not need to give land, they have enough money, they can buy a hundred acres of land. Claim – Police officer had asked for extra force According to the Times of India report, DCP MN Karibasavana Gowda had written a letter to the state government on June 4 before the Victory Parade and warned it. He had written – RCB has a fan following all over the country. Lakhs of people can reach Chinnaswamy Stadium. We do not have enough police force. It will be difficult to make security arrangements. After the letter surfaced, questions are being raised on the government that when the danger was already known, why was permission given for such a big event. The bench of Karnataka High Court’s Acting Chief Justice V Kameshwar Rao and Justice CM Joshi had raised some questions while hearing the suo moto (suo motu) writ petition on June 5. Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) secretary A Shankar and treasurer E S Jayaram have resigned. Both have taken moral responsibility for the stampede during the victory celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Shankar and Jayaram said in a joint statement; – Due to the unexpected and unfortunate events that happened in the last two days, we want to inform that we have resigned from our respective posts as Secretary and Treasurer of KSCA. However, our role was very limited. Father hugged his son’s grave, said – I have to stay here Karnataka BJP shared a similar video on X on June 7. In this, a person is seen crying while hugging his son’s grave. The person’s name is BT Laxman. His 21-year-old son Bhoomik Laxman died in the stampede. In the video, BT Laxman is seen crying loudly near his son’s body. Crying, he said, ‘I buried him on the land I bought for him. I don’t want to go anywhere now. I also want to stay here.’ Bhaumik, a resident of Hassan district of Karnataka, was the only son of his parents and a final year engineering student. The Karnataka government on Thursday ordered the arrest of officials after registering an FIR against KSCA, RCB and DNA Entertainment Network. Karnataka State Cricket Association President Raghuram Bhat, Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jayaram had sought cancellation of FIR against them in the stampede case. On this, the Karnataka High Court had given relief to KSCA officials from arrest till the next hearing on June 16.
