The Alipore Court of Kolkata has sent all the four accused in the law college gang rape case to judicial custody for 14 days. Accused Manojit was already in judicial custody till July 8. Earlier, on July 3, while hearing three public interest litigations (PILs) filed in the case, the court had ordered the closure of student union offices in all colleges and universities of Bengal. The court has sought a reply from the state government as to why the governing body of the college was not included in the case. A bench of Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Smita Das De had said that these rooms will remain closed till the student elections are held. The court said that such rooms cannot be used for any work. If needed, an application has to be given to the university registrar with valid reasons. On June 25, a student was gang-raped in South Kolkata Law College in Kasba area. The main accused in the case is Manojit Mishra. At the same time, Pramit and Jaib and Pinaki are accused of supporting him. Claims in the PIL filed by Advocate Sayan Banerjee in the High Court… Police said – all three accused are misleading Police said that all three accused are giving different statements so that the investigation can be misled. An officer said that all three are law students, they know some legal tricks. Along with this, the police is also trying to find out whom Manojit, Zaib Ahmed and Prameet Mukherjee met or were in contact with a few hours before their arrest. Police questioned the Vice Principal of the Law College twice Police has also questioned the college’s Vice-Principal Dr. Nayana Chatterjee twice. Manojit Mishra had spoken to her on the phone on the morning of June 26. On Wednesday, the police also questioned 16 people who were present in the college campus at the time of the incident. Police have found a stain on a sheet seized from the security guard’s room, and it is being investigated whether it has any connection with this incident or not. Meanwhile, the Detective Department (DD) of Kolkata Police took over the investigation of this case on Wednesday. Till now the SIT was investigating. According to media reports, the admission rate in the college had decreased at that time. Not only this, some girls told that they were afraid in Manojit’s presence. He used to take pictures of girls on campus, post them in the group. He used to propose to every other girl. The accused had the status of a god among the students and the administration. He had access to every document of the campus. He had the details, phone numbers and addresses of every student. Manojit was hired due to staff shortage Law college’s vice principal Nayana Chatterjee had said that the main accused Manojit Mishra was appointed as a temporary faculty member a few months ago. The hiring was done due to shortage of permanent staff. Chatterjee said that the college administration came to know about the incident through the media. The victim student or anyone else did not complain about the incident to the college administration. She said that the police had sought permission to enter the campus a day after the incident. The security guard was also asked not to tell about this. The police have sealed two rooms on the ground floor. The vice principal has also accepted that the guard did not perform his duty properly. Nail marks on the body of the main accused Manojit Police investigation has revealed that there are nail marks on Manojit’s body, which shows that the victim tried to save herself. As part of the investigation, the police searched the mobile call records of the three accused. It was found that Manojit had called the college’s vice principal Dr. Nayana Chatterjee the next morning of the incident. After this, the police have questioned the vice principal twice. Meanwhile, South Kolkata Law College has taken disciplinary action and terminated Manojit Mishra’s job and suspended both the student accused from the college. Apart from this, the college administration has also recommended the Bar Council to cancel Mishra’s membership, as he is a practicing advocate. Police recovered CCTV footage from the medical store Police has also seized CCTV footage of the medical store from where the accused Zaib Ahmed bought the inhaler for the victim. The victim had told in her complaint that she had pleaded with the accused to take her to the hospital, but when they did not agree, she asked them to bring the inhaler. After this, Zaib ordered the inhaler, after which the accused continued to rape her. Police said that the digital evidence collected from the spot, medical examination report and other evidence also match the victim’s story. Police said- The accused carried out the crime after planning it in advance. Samples of all the three accused in the Kolkata gangrape case have been taken. Fluid, urine and hair samples of Manojit Mishra, Pramit Mukherjee and Zaid Ahmed were taken on June 30 at the medical college. This process lasted for about eight hours. Police said on the investigation, ‘The three accused were tracking the victim for several days. Mishra targeted the victim from the first day of her admission in the college. The crime was committed after planning.’ Police has also warned that action will be taken if the identity of the victim girl is revealed. On the other hand, the law college has suspended the main accused and two other accused in the gangrape. Alipore Court has extended the police custody of all three till July 8. Petition filed for CBI investigation of gangrape A public interest litigation was filed in the Calcutta High Court on Monday for a CBI investigation of the Kolkata gangrape. In this, a request has been made to direct the CBI to conduct a primary investigation of the case and submit a report to the court. This demand has been made because the main accused is associated with the ruling party of the state TMC. The petition also demands compensation for the victim and deployment of civil volunteers for the safety of girls in government educational institutes. Some other petitions filed earlier have demanded an investigation into the matter under the supervision of the court. These petitions may be heard at the end of this week. The CCTV of the college has footage of about 7 hours from 3:30 pm to 10:50 pm on June 25. An investigating officer said that the incident of forcibly taking the victim student to the guard’s room has been captured in the CCTV. This confirms the allegations made in the written complaint of the student. The rape was also confirmed in the medical report of the victim student on June 28. According to the police, marks of force on the victim, biting and scratching with nails have been found on the body. Beating has also been confirmed.
