The NIA court in Delhi has extended the judicial custody of 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Tahawwur Rana till August 13. At the same time, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against Rana on Wednesday. The court will hear this chargesheet on August 13. This is the second chargesheet against Rana. Earlier, the first chargesheet was filed in 2011. In this, the NIA had described Rana as a conspirator of the 26/11 attack along with David Headley and other terrorists. Earlier on July 7, it was revealed that during NIA interrogation, Rana had confessed to being in Mumbai at the time of the Mumbai attack and being a Pakistani agent. He also admitted that he had also helped in carrying out the attack. Tahawwur was arrested by the US agency FBI in Chicago, USA in October 2009. Rana was brought to India from the US on a special plane on April 10, 2025. Rana confessed- ‘I am an agent of Pak Army, I was in Mumbai at the time of the attack’ Earlier on Monday, it was revealed that terrorist Tahawwur Rana was in Mumbai at the time of 26/11 terror attack. He confessed this during interrogation by NIA. According to NIA sources, Rana has admitted that he is an agent of Pakistani Army. He told that he had done many training sessions of Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan with David Coleman Headley. Rana also said that Lashkar actually works like a spy network. Mumbai Police Crime Branch, which is involved in the interrogation, is now preparing to arrest Rana and take him on remand. Rana is currently in judicial custody of NIA, which has been extended by Delhi court till 9th July. Immigration center was opened in Mumbai
Rana told during interrogation that he opened his company’s immigration center in Mumbai with his own plan, so that space and facilities could be available for preparing for the attack. The transactions done there were shown in business expenses. He also admitted that he had personally visited places like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and conducted a recce. Rana also revealed the names of Pak officers. Tahawwur Rana admitted during NIA interrogation that he knew PAK officers Sajid Mir, Abdul Rehman Pasha and Major Iqbal. All of them were involved in the conspiracy of 26/11 attacks. Rana was brought to India from the US in May this year and the NIA took him into judicial custody. He faces serious charges like conspiracy, murder, terrorist activity and forgery. A Delhi court has extended his judicial custody till July 9. According to the report, Rana said that the 26/11 attack was carried out in collaboration with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. He also told that he was sent to Saudi Arabia by the PAK Army during the Gulf War. Rana, who was a doctor in the Pakistani Army, is a Canadian citizen. 64-year-old Tahawwur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin. Rana worked as a doctor in the Pakistani army. After this, he went to Canada in 1997 and started working as a businessman providing immigration services there. From Canada, he reached America and opened a consultancy firm named First World Immigration Services at many locations including Chicago. According to US court documents, Rana had also visited Canada, Pakistan, Germany and England several times. He can speak about 7 languages. Rana is a friend of David Headley, the mastermind of the Mumbai attack. David Headley was the mastermind of the Mumbai attack. Tahawwur was his friend, who helped him in carrying out this attack. Rana knew that Headley was working with Lashkar-e-Taiba. By helping Headley and providing him financial assistance, Rana was also supporting the terrorist organization and the terrorists with it. Rana knew whom Headley was meeting and what he was talking about. He also knew the planning of the attack and the names of some targets. Tahawwur Rana was arrested by the FBI in 2009. Rana was convicted in the US for supporting Lashkar-e-Taiba. Till now he was lodged in a detention center in Los Angeles. On 26 November 2008, 10 terrorists of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba attacked Mumbai. These attacks lasted for four days.
