A farmer who was cheated in Faridkot committed suicide: Suicide note found, travel agent held responsible; had taken loan and sent son to Canada

A farmer in Matta village of Faridkot committed suicide by hanging himself in his house. The farmer had sent his son to Canada. But he was cheated after getting him admitted in college. Hurt by this, the farmer took this step. Police is investigating the case. According to the information, the deceased was identified as Surjeet Singh (54). The farmer had sent his son to Canada by spending about 15 lakhs through a travel agent named Davinder Singh of Faridkot. But he could not get a place there. He was cheated after getting him admitted in some other college, due to which he took this step. He had sent his son abroad by taking a loan. According to family sources, Surjeet Singh is an ordinary farmer and he had sent his son abroad by taking a loan. Before committing suicide, the farmer also left a suicide note. On the basis of which and the statement of the family, Jaito police station has started legal action. Police took him down from the noose. A police party led by ASI Jaswant Singh and Head Constable Boota Singh reached the spot and with the help of the people, brought the said person down from the noose. Also, Chaddi Kala Welfare Seva Society was informed. The farmer was taken to Kotkapura Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. After legal proceedings, his post-mortem will be conducted at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Hospital, Faridkot. The deceased mentioned fraud in the suicide note. In this case, DSP Jaito Manoj Kumar Sharma told that the police has found a suicide note of the deceased Surjeet Singh. In which he has mentioned a travel agent cheating him in the name of sending his son abroad. On this basis, the police will name the travel agent and take further action and the accused will be arrested soon.
