Social media platform X has reduced the price of subscription plans in India by up to 47%. For the first time, the company has changed the prices of all three of its subscription plans – Basic, Premium and Premium+. The company’s monthly web and mobile app basic plan will now be available for Rs 170 instead of Rs 244. The yearly basic plan is available for Rs 1,700 instead of Rs 2,591. That is, X has reduced the price of its basic plan by 30%. The premium plan will now be available for ?470, while X’s mobile app monthly premium plan will now be available for Rs 470 instead of Rs 900. It has become 47% cheaper. Apart from this, the web monthly premium plan is available for Rs 427, which was earlier available for Rs 650. It has become 34% cheaper. Premium+ plan available for ?3,000 Apart from this, the company’s mobile app Monthly Premium+ plan will now be available for Rs 3,000 instead of Rs 5,130. It has become 42% cheaper. However, the price of Monthly Premium+ plan on iOS is Rs 5,000. On the other hand, X’s Monthly Web Premium+ plan is available for Rs 2,570 instead of Rs 3,470. It has become 26% cheaper. Features available in X’s plan Basic plan: It includes limited premium features like options to edit posts, upload long posts and videos, reply priority, text formatting and app customization. Premium plan: This plan offers benefits like creator tools like X Pro, Analytics, Media Studio, Blue Checkmark, Less Ads and increased usage limit for Grok. Premium+ plan: This plan gives ad-free experience. This includes the highest reply boost, article writing facility and access to radar for real-time trends. Why did the subscription plan prices decrease? According to Moneycontrol, Elon Musk’s company X has taken this step of reducing the subscription plan prices in India to attract users in India, the world’s second largest internet market. The prices of X’s plans on mobile apps are high because the company is recovering Google and Apple’s in-app commission from customers. Musk has long been trying to increase X’s revenue through subscriptions other than ads. However, a large part of the company’s revenue still comes from ads. According to estimates by app intelligence firm AppFigures, by December 2024, X had earned $16.5 million i.e. Rs 142 crore from in-app purchases through mobile apps. X launched subscription in India in 2023 X launched its Twitter Blue i.e. subscription plan in India in February 2023. The company had increased the price of its most expensive plan Premium+ twice in the last one year.
