South’s popular villain Kota Srinivas, who played the role of villain in famous films like Son of Satyamurthy, Temper, Yevadu, has passed away on 13 July. The actor was 83 years old. He celebrated his 83rd birthday on 10 July. The actor was ill for a long time. Kota Srinivas breathed his last in the early morning today at his bungalow in Jubilee Hill, Hyderabad. Kota Srinivas has acted in more than 750 films in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi languages. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2015. Apart from a successful film career, Kota Srinivas has also played an important role in politics. He was the MLA of Vijayawada East in Andhra Pradesh from 1999 to 2004. Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh paid tribute Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wrote emotionally, ‘The death of eminent actor Kota Srinivas Rao garu has come as a deep shock. His absence is an irreparable loss for the film industry. Though Kota garu is no longer physically amongst us, he will forever live in the hearts of Telugu people through the roles he played. I pray to God that his soul rests in peace, I offer my deepest condolences to his family members.’ Paying tribute to Kota Srinivas, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wrote, ‘The demise of famous actor Kota Srinivas Rao, who won the hearts of cinema audiences with his roles, is extremely sad. His artistic contribution in the field of cinema and theatre for nearly four decades and the roles played by him will remain unforgettable. The countless memorable roles played by him as a villain and character artist will forever be etched in the hearts of Telugu audiences. His demise is an irreparable loss for the Telugu film industry. In 1999, he won the election as MLA from Vijayawada and served the public. Kota Srinivas was last seen in the 2023 film Kabza. The film featured Upendra Rao, Rajkumar, Kicha Sudeep, Shriya Saran in important roles.
