The last prayer was held today for Punjabi comedian Jaswinder Bhalla at Gurudwara Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib in Sector-34, Chandigarh. In this, a proposal was made to name Fortis Chowk in Mohali after comedian Jaswinder Bhalla. PM Modi also sent his condolence message while paying tribute to Bhalla. Remembering her father, Bhalla’s daughter Ashpreet said, “Papa, you were my strength”. Many celebrities including Punjabi film actor Gippy Grewal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, director Sameep Kang and Punjab government minister Hardeep Singh Mundia and MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer reached to pay tribute to Jaswinder Bhalla. Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring reached Gurudwara Sahib with his wife and paid tribute to Jaswinder Bhalla. Retired member of Punjab Film Censor Board RR Gill remembered the moments spent with Bhalla.
After the prayer of Bhog, Singh Sahibans decorated the head of Jaswinder Bhalla’s son Pukhraj Bhalla with a turban. The square near Fortis Hospital will be named after Bhalla. Former health minister of Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu said that Mohali Municipal Corporation has passed a proposal to name the square near Mohali Fortis Hospital after Jaswinder Bhalla. He said that the proposal has been passed under the leadership of his younger brother and Mohali mayor Amarjit Singh Jitti Sidhu. The name will be given in the coming days. If desired, Bhalla sahab’s statue will also be installed there. RR Gill said that TV serials and comedy serials used to come to him for certification. He used to sign and pass Bhalla’s serials in 1 minute, because Bhalla has made people laugh with clean comedy. Bhalla died of brain stroke on the morning of 22 August at the age of 65. He was born on 4 May 1960 in Doraha town of Ludhiana. On the demise of Bhalla, along with the big personalities of the Punjabi film industry, well-known personalities from politics and society also reached to pay tribute. People have started arriving for the Bhog and last prayer held at Gurudwara Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib in Sector-34, Chandigarh for the comedy king of Punjab Jaswinder Bhalla. Police has been deployed outside the Gurudwara Sahib for the security of VIPs. In a short while, artists from the film industry of Punjab and Bollywood will also start arriving. Jaswinder Bhalla’s last rites were performed in Mohali on 23 August, where his son Pukhraj lit the funeral pyre. During this, Punjabi stars Gippy Grewal and Binu Dhillon cried in an emotional atmosphere. A large number of fans had gathered at the crematorium. Strict police arrangements were made to handle the crowd. During the funeral, Neeru Bajwa, Hansraj Hans, Amar Noori, Mankirt Aulakh, Jimmy Shergill and comedian BN Sharma were present from the Punjabi film world. From the political world, many leaders including Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, AAP government minister Tarunpreet Saundh and former minister Balbir Sidhu also came to pay tribute.
