The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the vehicle’s KYV (Know Your Vehicle) process. Under the new guidelines, users will only need to upload a front photo of the number plate and FASTag. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), uploading side photos of cars, jeeps, and vans will no longer be required. This will further simplify the process of keeping FASTags active and verifying them. RC information will be automatically available. Under the new system, vehicle RC details will be automatically available from the Vahan portal. Users will only need to enter the vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number. If multiple vehicles are registered under the same mobile number, users will be able to choose which vehicle’s KYV is to be completed. The government has clarified that FASTags issued before the KYV policy came into effect will remain active and will not be deactivated unless a complaint or misuse is reported. Banks will send reminders. If a user is unable to upload documents, the relevant bank will contact the customer and provide assistance over the phone. Before disconnecting the Fastag, the bank will have to complete the KYV process. Also, banks will have to send SMS reminders to customers to complete the KYV.
