The son of a BJP leader and his friends assaulted a toll worker at a toll booth on the Vijayapura-Kalburgi Highway in Karnataka. The toll worker refused to allow the BJP leader’s son to cross the toll free of charge. The accused has been identified as Samarthgouda Patil, son of BJP leader and former Babaleshwar candidate Vijugouda Patil. CCTV footage of the incident has emerged, showing Samarthgouda and his friends assaulting and abusing a toll worker. Police confirmed the video on Friday and stated that the incident occurred in Kannoli on Thursday. According to police, Samarthgouda and his friends were traveling from Vijayapura to Sindgi in a car. At the toll booth, toll worker Sangappa stopped them and asked them to pay. Samarthgouda got out of the car and entered the toll worker’s cabin. He said, “Don’t you know who I am? I am Vijugouda Patil’s son.” The toll worker then asked, “Who is Vijugouda?” Samarthgouda and his friends then attacked him. Police said other toll booth employees intervened and prevented the situation from escalating. The toll worker was injured in the incident and has been admitted to Sindgi Taluk Hospital.
