PM Modi arrived in Gujarat on Friday to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He paid floral tributes to the 182-meter-tall statue of Sardar Patel (the Statue of Unity) in Ekta Nagar, Narmada district. The National Unity Day parade was held in Ekta Nagar. Addressing the event, the PM said, “Sardar Patel wanted to integrate all of Kashmir into India, but then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru prevented this from happening. Kashmir was divided with a separate constitution. The country burned for decades in the fire of Congress’s mistakes.” The PM said, “Congress inherited not only its party and power, but also a slave mentality from the British. When the British partitioned Bengal in 1905, Vande Mataram became the voice of national unity and solidarity. The British tried to ban Vande Mataram, but were never successful.” Modi said, “Congress accomplished what the British could not. Congress removed a portion of Vande Mataram on religious grounds.” This means that Congress divided society and furthered the British agenda. PM takes salute at National Unity Day parade

All contingents participating in the parade were led by women officers. 16 contingents, including the BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF, and Border Security Force, participated in the parade.
