The teaser for Divya Dutta’s new web series, “Chiraiya,” has been released. It questions the injustices prevalent in Indian homes. The teaser begins with a joyous wedding scene. A new bride, Pooja, is seen embarking on a new life with hopes for a better future. However, a horrifying twist suddenly unfolds, showing the bride on the terrace, sad and traumatized. Tears stream down her face and bruises all over her body. The series explores the harsh reality behind wedding celebrations. It questions whether it’s right for a husband to exert any kind of pressure on his wife after marriage. Marriage isn’t a license, and silence doesn’t always mean yes. The 20-second teaser is enough to convey the serious and sensitive subject matter it tackles. “Chiraiya” urges us to consider that marriage isn’t a license, and silence shouldn’t be mistaken for consent. Speaking about “Chiraiya,” Divya said, “We often silence ourselves in the name of saving relationships or maintaining peace. Marriage is accepted as unquestionable consent, and sacrifice is romanticized to the point where the pain disappears.” Directed by Shashank Shah, the web series also stars Sanjay Mishra, Siddharth Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid, Tinu Anand, and Sarita Joshi.
