A sequel to the film “Malamaal Weekly” will be made: Actor Paresh Rawal confirmed, saying, “I am part of the project.”

Actor Paresh Rawal has confirmed that the film Malamaal Weekly 2 is in development. He recently revealed to Hindustan Times that he is part of the project. However, the film has not yet been officially announced. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the makers have developed a new concept for the second installment of Malamaal Weekly, which will not directly continue the story of the first, but will instead present the franchise in a new way. Rajpal and Ritesh have also been approached. Citing sources, the report states that this time there will be different characters and a new setting, but the story will revolve around a group of villagers who resort to strange means to obtain a large sum of money. Paresh Rawal has agreed to the film, while Rajpal Yadav and Ritesh Deshmukh have also been approached. The film was released in 2006 and was directed by Priyadarshan. The film also starred Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, and Riteish Deshmukh. The film received mixed reviews from critics, but was a box office success. Made on a budget of ₹7 crore (approximately ₹42.7 crore). Based on the Hollywood film Waking Ned (1998), the story has been adapted into other languages, including Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw (2006) in Telugu, Dakota Picture (2012) in Kannada, and Aamayum Muyalum (2014) in Malayalam.

The film’s story revolves around the village of Laholi, where Paresh Rawal, playing the role of Leelaram, learns that a villager has won a lottery of ₹1 crore (approximately ₹1 crore) but has died. This leads to chaos in the village as everyone wants a share of the prize money. On the work front, Paresh Rawal will be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Priyadarshan’s directorial “Bhoot Bangla.” The film is scheduled to release on April 10, 2026. He will also be seen in “Welcome to the Jungle.” He is also a part of “Bhagam Bhaag 2.”
