In Himachal’s Lahaul Spiti, on Sunday night, a vehicle carrying tourists from Delhi collided with a tipper after skidding on snow. One tourist died due to this, while three were seriously injured. All the three injured were referred to Kullu Hospital after first aid at Rohtang. The police have registered a case and started further action. According to the police, this accident happened between Snow-Gallery and Pagal Nala ahead of Rohtang Tunnel. There was a long traffic jam due to slippery road. During this, the vehicle number DL-9CAT9501 overtook the line and went ahead at high speed. Due to this, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tipper stuck in the jam on the other lane. The front part of the accident vehicle got stuck under the tipper. Due to this, all the air-bags of the vehicle opened and the vehicle was badly damaged. Head Constable Gajendra, owner of a company named Bhishan, said that the deceased has been identified as Bhishan Garg (49) of Delhi. He told that Parvez Alam, Lekhraj and Tarun have been injured in this accident. All the passengers in the car are residents of Mohan Garden Uttam Nagar Delhi. The fifth person sitting on the back seat is completely safe. He told that the postmortem of the dead body will be done today. The deceased Bhishan Garg was the owner of a company in Delhi. All of them had gone for a walk towards Sissu and became victims of the accident while returning last evening. Police Advisory After the fresh snowfall, the police has issued an advisory to tourists and local people to be cautious, because most of the people drive on snow as usual. The snow has frozen like glass on the roads. Caution is necessary due to this. In such a situation, the police has issued an advisory to drive at a slow speed and use less brakes. While the bus skidded in Kufri, the Shimla-Haridwar-Nerwa bus full of passengers skidded in Jaisghati of Theog. Fortunately, the bus went towards the hill. A big accident was averted due to this. In the afternoon, a bus coming from Theog towards Shimla skidded on snow about 200 meters ahead of Fagu. This bus was also full of passengers. There was no loss of life in this too. Long traffic jam between Fagu and Kufri Due to slippery road between Fagu and Kufri, there was traffic jam throughout the day. The first snowfall of the season has also exposed the claims of PWD to keep the roads open for 24 hours. Due to traffic jam, most of the people reached Kufri from Fagu on foot, because there was jam on the road from morning till late evening. Tourists trapped in high altitude areas safe till late rescue Snowfall may occur at some places in the state today and tomorrow as well. In view of this, tourists have been advised not to go to high altitude areas, because sudden snowfall occurs in high altitude areas. This increases the possibility of getting trapped. Last evening also, more than 150 tourists were trapped at various places in the high altitude areas of Lahaul Spiti, who were safely taken to hotels by the local police till late night.
