This incident happened on 18 August, but the family members hid the fact that he was an ED officer. Due to this, no one came to know about this suicide for three days. On 21st August, it was learnt that ED enforcement officer Alok Ranjan had committed suicide in Ghaziabad. Initial information revealed that he was hit by a train near Sahibabad station. On this information, Sahibabad ACP Rajneesh Upadhyay also started investigating. He called GRP and RPF besides police station. It was learnt that there was no incident of train run over in Sahibabad area. It was learnt late in the evening that this accident had happened near Gaushala gate. Alok Ranjan was an officer in ED, the family members did not tell this to GRP at that time. Probably for this reason this matter remained hidden for three days. In fact, on 7th August this month, ED assistant director Sandeep Singh was arrested by CBI on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. A jeweller from Mumbai had complained to CBI that ED had raided his place a few months ago. After this raid, ED had questioned his son. Assistant Director Sandeep Singh had demanded Rs 50 lakh in exchange for not arresting his son. When CBI was investigating this case, the name of ED officer Alok Ranjan also came up in it. It is being said that ED had questioned Alok Ranjan twice.
