FIR has been registered against the famous Malayalam actor Jayasurya for the second time. An actress has filed a complaint against him for sexual harassment, after which this step was taken. Kerala Police told news agency ANI, ‘Second FIR has been registered against actor Jayasurya in Thiruvananthapuram under 354, 354A(A1)(I) 354D IPC. The case has been registered after the statement of the complainant was recorded.’ Earlier, actress Meenu Munir had filed an FIR against him. Meenu had alleged that Jayasurya had physically abused her. Meenu had said – Jayasurya tried to misbehave with me in the bathroom
Meenu Munir had told news agency ANI, ‘One day I was coming out of the bathroom, when Jayasurya hugged me from behind and then started kissing me forcefully. Shortly after this, actor Idavelu Babu expressed his desire to have a physical relationship with me.’ Earlier, Meenu Munir had also mentioned the incident of 2013 in her Facebook post and said that she was physically and verbally harassed on the sets of the film. After the Hema Committee report came out, many actresses made serious allegations against actors.
For the last several years, there were allegations of sexual exploitation of female artists in the Malayalam film industry. To investigate this, a 3-member committee was formed in 2019 under the chairmanship of retired Justice Hema. After 4 years, on August 19, the Hema Committee submitted a 233-page report to the Kerala government, in which exploitation by many big artists came to light. Since the Justice Hema Committee report came out, actresses in the Malayalam film industry are continuously making allegations against many big actors and filmmakers.
