Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, who is going to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, said on Saturday that he is not going there to have any kind of talks with the neighboring country. While addressing a program in Delhi, Jaishankar said that the reason for his visit to Pakistan is only the SCO meeting. This is a multilateral event. He will not discuss India-Pakistan relations there. The Foreign Minister said, “Being a good member of the SCO, I am going to participate in the meeting in Pakistan. I am a civilized man, so I will behave well when I go there.” Apart from this, Jaishankar also blamed Pakistan for SAARC not being active. Jaishankar said – SAARC is not able to move forward because of Pakistan
He said, “SAARC is not moving forward at the moment. We have not held any meeting of it for years. There is only one reason for this and that is that one member of the organization is carrying out terrorist attacks on the other. Terrorism is an issue with which no compromise can be made. If this continues, we cannot move SAARC forward.” The SAARC organization was formed to coordinate among South Asian countries. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka are its member countries. However, due to differences between India and Pakistan, the organization is not able to function properly. This raises questions on its importance. Jaishankar will visit Pakistan on 15-16 October
Foreign Minister Jaishankar will visit Pakistan on 15-16 October. He will attend the SCO Heads of Government (CHG) meeting in Islamabad. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal gave this information on Friday (4 October). This will be the first time after Sushma Swaraj’s visit in 2015 that an Indian minister will visit Pakistan. In fact, Pakistan had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the SCO meeting on 29 August. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch had said that invitations have been sent to the heads of all member countries to attend the meeting. After receiving an invitation from Pakistan, Jaishankar had given a statement on the relationship between the two countries on 30 August. He had said- The phase of talks with Pakistan is over. There is a time for everything, every work reaches its conclusion. Article 370 has been removed from Jammu and Kashmir, the issue is over. Now why should we consider any relationship with Pakistan. Tension increased between India and Pakistan after Uri attack
In 2016, 4 terrorists disguised as Indian soldiers entered the Indian Army’s brigade headquarters in Uri. Within 3 minutes, the terrorists threw more than 15 grenades at the camp. 19 Indian Army soldiers were martyred in this attack. To respond to the attack, the Indian Army entered PoK and carried out a surgical strike on the night of 28-29 September. The Indian Army returned after completing the operation by early morning. 38 terrorists were killed in this attack. Since then, tension had increased in the relations between the two countries. Pakistani artists and their films were also boycotted in India. The Indian cricket team also last went to Pakistan to play a match in 2008. There has been no high-level meeting between India and Pakistan since the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.
