Mumbai’s first underground metro started on Monday. Under Phase-1 of Aqua Line, the underground metro ran between Bandra Kurla Complex and Aarey. The service started at 11 am. A large number of people arrived to experience the ride on the first day. PM Modi flagged off the 12.69 km long Phase-1 of Metro Line 3 on Saturday. Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has issued a notification stating that normal operation of the metro on the Aqua Line will start from Tuesday. The service will operate from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday, the service will run from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm. The metro fare will be a minimum of Rs 10 and a maximum of Rs 50. 9 out of 10 stations of the corridor will be underground
Commuters can use other means including NCMC (National Common Mobility Card), Mumbai Metro 3 mobile app and ticket vending machines to book tickets. This corridor between BKC to Aarey Road has 10 metro stations – BKC, Bandra Colony, Santacruz Metro, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Terminal 1, Sahar Road, CSMIA Terminal 2, Marol Naka, Andheri, Seepz, Aarey Colony JVLR. Out of all these stations, only Aarey JVLR station is on the ground, while all the rest are underground. The Aqua Line is the fourth metro corridor of Mumbai. Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova Metro Line-1, Andheri West-Dahisar Line-2A and Andheri East-Dahisar Line-7 are already operational in the city.
