2 Agniveers died in Nashik Artillery School: Shell blast occurred during firing practice, NCP said- both should be given martyr status

2 Agniveers lost their lives during cannon firing practice at the Artillery Center in Nashik, Maharashtra. This incident happened on Thursday (9 October) afternoon. Information about this came to light on Friday. According to officials, the accident took place at the Devkali Field Firing Range around 12 noon on Thursday. They said that Gohil Vishwaraj Singh (20), Saifat Shit (21) and Appala Swami (20) were practicing firing shells from the No. 4 Indian Field Gun (cannon) at the BP 2 Range with their team. During this time, a shell blast occurred. All three Agniveers fell away and metal pieces got embedded in their bodies. Gohil and Saifat were seriously injured in the incident and Appala was also injured. All three were admitted to MH Hospital in Devkali Camp. Gohil and Saifat died at night. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Devlali Camp Police Station regarding the incident. The third Agniveer Appala is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Officials said that Gohil Vishwaraj was a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. Saifat was a resident of West Bengal. Both were recruited in Hyderabad. Both had come to Nashik a few months ago to practice firing a cannon. According to the Agniveer recruitment rules, the families of both the Agniveers will not get pension, but accident insurance and military facilities will be provided.
