Congress’s allegations of rigging in Haryana elections rejected: Election Commission gave a 1600 page reply, said- allegations are wrong and baseless, also gave advice

The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday rejected Congress’ allegations of rigging in the Haryana assembly elections. In a 1600-page reply, the EC termed the allegations as baseless, incorrect and factless. The Commission said, ‘Irresponsible allegations during sensitive times like voting and counting can lead to unrest and chaos.’ Citing 5 cases in the last one year, the Commission advised the Congress party and said that it should be careful in making allegations and avoid habitually attacking electoral operations without any evidence. Voting was held in one phase in the state on October 5 and the results were declared on October 8. During the counting of votes, the Congress had complained to the Election Commission that some EVMs were working on 99 percent battery capacity, while some were working on 60-70 and less than 80 percent battery capacity. Congress had complained on October 13, alleged rigging Congress had complained to the Election Commission on October 13, claiming EVM tampering in the Haryana elections. Congress leader Pawan Khera had said that EVM tampering was found during the counting of votes on 20 seats. Candidates from these seats had filed written and oral complaints. Congress has sent their list to the Election Commission.

Kheda had said that it is strange that Congress candidates have lost on those seats in which machines had 99% battery charge. At the same time, machines with 60-70% battery charge are those on which Congress candidates have won. On the day of counting, some machines were 99% charged and the rest were normal machines with 60-70% charge. Congress leaders Priya Mishra and Vikas Bansal had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on October 16 alleging irregularities in voting-counting on 20 seats. However, the court had also rejected it on October 17.

It was said in the petition that the Election Commission has conducted elections in Haryana with EVM. Results have also been declared on the basis of that. However, some EVMs were working on 99% battery capacity, while some were working on 60-70 and less than 80% battery capacity.
