Stock market fell on Diwali day: Sensex closed at 79,389, down 553 points, Nifty fell 135 points; IT shares fell the most

The stock market fell on Diwali day today i.e. 31st October. Sensex fell 553 points to close at 79,389. Nifty also fell 135 points, it closed at 24,205. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 22 fell and 8 rose. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 34 fell and 16 rose. IT sector fell the most by 3%
The IT sector saw the most decline of 3%. Banks, auto, financial services, FMCG, metal, PSU banks, private banks and realty sectors also fell. At the same time, the media sector saw a rise of 1.82% and the pharma sector saw a rise of 1.61%. Mixed trading in Asian markets; the market had declined yesterday on Chhoti Diwali. Yesterday, i.e. Wednesday (29 October), the Sensex fell by 426 points and closed at 79,942. Whereas, the Nifty closed at 24,340, falling 126 points. After the day’s trading, out of the 30 stocks of Sensex, 19 had declined and 11 had gained. Out of the 50 stocks of Nifty, 31 had declined and 19 had gained. The biggest decline in the sectoral indices of NSE was in the stocks of Financial Services and Pharma. The stock of Financial Services fell by 1.45%. Whereas, the stock of Pharma had fallen by 1%.
