Shahid Kapoor recently recalled his middle class days. He told that despite being the son of Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azim, he still feels like an outsider in the film industry. Recalling his childhood days, the actor said that his parents got divorced when he was three years old. After the separation of his parents, he started living with his mother, his mother raised him alone. Shahid said that he also has a good relationship with his father. But he never took any help or advice from his father to move forward in the industry. We used to live in a rented house with mother – Shahid Shahid Kapoor shared an anecdote related to his childhood during a conversation with Faye D’Souza. He said, ‘I knew my father and we had a good relationship, but I was with my mother since I was three years old. I remember when Ishaan was born, I was 14 years old, and mother had quit acting because she had to take care of Ishaan. When Ishaan was born, she was 35-36 years old, and it is not easy to have a child at that age. Being a working woman with a 14-year-old son, living in Mumbai, and second marriage, all this was very difficult for her. After Ishaan grew up a little, she wanted to act again but it was not that easy because people forget you. Mother was trying to manage everything herself, and at that time we were living in rented houses. ‘Never took any advice from father’ Shahid further said, ‘I had a good relationship with my father but I did not want to take any advice from him. He was always available to give me advice and guide me, but I wanted to do everything on my own and I was very proud of this.’ I am a unique specimen – Shahid Shahid Kapoor described himself as a unique specimen during this time. He said, I always consider myself an outsider. Even now I do not feel that I am fully prepared for the industry. I am a bit of a unique specimen… As an outsider the first thing I want is acceptance, and I come from a middle class family, so I had no contact with fashion, or makeup artists, producers, directors. I didn’t know anything. I just came into the industry and my first film did quite well. Talking about Shahid’s work front, Shahid was last seen in the film Teri Baato Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Kriti Sanon was also in the lead role with Shahid in this film. Shahid’s next film is Deva, it is an action thriller and Pooja Hegde will be seen in the lead role with the actor. The film will be released in theatres on Valentine’s Day in 2025.
