Magisterial investigation has started into the encounter of Sonu Matka, a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, who was killed in a joint operation of Meerut STF and Delhi Police’s Special Cell team. In Meerut, UP STF killed Delhi’s wanted gangster Anil alias Sonu Matka in an encounter on the morning of 14 December. Delhi Police’s special team was also present in the encounter. Sonu Matka was a sharp shooter of Hashim Baba gang. Sonu Matka was wanted in the murder of uncle-nephew of a business family in Shahdara area of Delhi on the night of Diwali, 31 October. Delhi Police was searching for him. Sonu Matka had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on him. On the night of 13 December, when his location was found in Meerut, the special team of Delhi Police planned the operation in collaboration with UP STF. When the joint team of both reached Vedvyaspuri in TP Nagar at 7 am, Sonu Matka was waiting for someone on his bike. Seeing the police, he started running. When the police chased him, he started firing. He fired at the police team 5 to 6 times. Sonu Matka was killed in police retaliation. Around 12-15 rounds of firing took place during the encounter. A pistol of 30 bore, a pistol of 32 bore, 10 live cartridges and a bike were recovered from Sonu Matka. Double murder on Diwali night in Delhi Akash Sharma (40) and his nephew were shot dead on the night of Diwali in Shahdara area of Delhi. His 10-year-old son was also injured in the firing. The police had caught the boy in this case, but the shooter Sonu Matka was absconding. The police claim that Sonu Matka had carried out the crime after taking a contract. Delhi Police was looking for Sonu since the double murder. On November 29 also, Delhi Police reached Meerut in search of Sonu. It was found that he was living in Apex City under the name of Deepak Jat. But he had absconded before the police reached. Came out on parole and fled In 2014, Sonu was in jail in connection with a murder in Shakarpur area of ??Delhi. In 2021, he came out on parole in the name of his wife’s operation. He was to surrender in jail in June 2021, but he absconded. Ajay alias Vijay, a resident of Rajiv Garden in Loni, Ghaziabad district, was also an accused in the murder in Shakarpur. Sonu Matka studied till 8th standard. He used to work as a car mechanic while living in Delhi. The first murder case was registered in 2014. Sonu Matka was a resident of Sherpur Luhara in Chhaprauli, Baghpat. For a long time, he lived in Harijan Basti Gokulpuri, Delhi. The first case against him was registered in 2014 in Ghaziabad’s Loni. He went to jail for the first time in this case of murder and robbery of a jewelery businessman named Ramesh. After this, he came out of jail on 17 June 2021. Sonu along with his accomplices carried out a robbery in Delhi on 26 May 2022. In this incident, the police announced a reward of 50 thousand on Sonu. On 7 October, he carried out a robbery with his accomplices in Karol Bagh area of ??Delhi. After the double murder, the reward amount on him was increased to 1 lakh.
