A Bolero pickup and a canter collided in Firozpur, Punjab at around 8 am today. 11 people died in this. While, 15 people were injured. This accident happened near village Mohan Ke Utaad on Firozpur-Fazilka road. At the time of the accident, more than 25 people were riding in the pickup. The bodies of the deceased were found scattered on the roadside. While, the injured people were taken to the hospital by the police with the help of passersby. The police have suspected that the accident happened due to fog. However, the police is investigating the whole matter. Among the dead is a person named Sukhwinder, who was the only brother of five sisters. Punjab CM Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann has expressed grief over the accident. He said- A major accident took place in Firozpur this morning due to a collision between a canter and a pickup truck. In which the news of the tragic death of waiters going to a wedding ceremony has come and some people are reported to be injured. I pray to God for the peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured. The Punjab government is standing with the victim families in this difficult time. Meanwhile, DC of Ferozepur Deepshikha Sharma has said that all the injured are being treated by the district administration. They will be taken full care of. Whereas, DGP Gaurav Yadav has also expressed condolences to the families of the victims. He has told that there were laborers in the Bolero pickup. They were going from Ferozepur to the rural area. During this, the pickup went out of control, due to which there was an accident with the canter coming from behind. 8 people died on the spot. At the same time, one died during treatment. On the other hand, DSP Satnam Singh has told that the Bolero pickup was going from Guru Har Sahai towards Jalalabad. There were laborers in the Bolero. Whereas, the canter was going from Jalalabad to Ferozepur. When it reached near Shaheed Udham Singh College, suddenly there was a direct collision between the two. In this, the pickup was badly damaged and all the people in the pickup fell far away from the accident site. All were admitted to various hospitals by 108 ambulance. Ferozepur DC Deepshikha Sharma also issued a statement in this regard. She said that 9 people have died in the accident. She said – The district administration had immediately sent 5 ambulances to the spot. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Faridkot and Jalalabad. Whereas, the bodies have been kept in Jalalabad hospital, where their postmortem will be done. Out of the 11 injured, 10 have been referred to Medical College Faridkot for treatment. At the same time, 1 patient is being treated in Jalalabad. All of them are being treated by the district administration. A relative of the deceased said – My nephew Jaswant Singh Sattu has died in this accident. Today was his second day of work. He had started working only yesterday and he died today. Immediately after the accident, people from the surrounding villages gathered at the spot. The accident was so horrific that dead bodies were lying even in the fields on the highway side.
