Concerns have increased after the death of pet cats from bird flu in Chhindwara. The administration has issued an alert regarding this. The purchase and sale of mutton, chicken and eggs has been banned for 30 days. Also, all mutton and chicken shops in the infected area have been sealed. Actually, about 18 cats died in the district recently. After which samples of 4 cats on January 15 and 3 cats on January 22 were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for testing. In the report that came on January 31, samples of two of these pet cats were found H5N1 (bird flu) positive. This is the first time in the country that bird flu has been found in domestic cats. Veterinary officer Dr. GS Pakshawar said that sampling was done at the two shops Vicky Chicken Center and Novelty Center from where raw meat was fed to the dead cats, in which bird flu was confirmed. Following the protocol in the affected area, mutton, chicken and eggs were destroyed in the concerned area. Also, their purchase and sale in the market was banned. CMHO formed a team after samples of 2 cats were found H5N1 positive in the samples taken by the Animal Department in the urban area of Chhindwara. The team sent samples of 65 persons who came in contact with cats in the infected area to the National Institute of Virology, Pune for testing for H5N1.
