The second round of talks between the US and Iran on the nuclear deal ended today in Rome, the capital of Italy. US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi participated in this conversation. However, it is not yet clear whether Araqchi and Witkoff talked directly or not. This was the second phase of talks between the two on the deal. Iran said that the talks were very fruitful, the third phase of the talks will begin on Saturday next week. Before this, both sides will talk on technical issues on Wednesday. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi spoke to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday. During this, Araqchi said that he does not trust the intentions of America, but will still talk. The first talks between the US and Iran took place on April 12 in Oman. It was mediated by Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi. This was the first official talks between the two countries on the nuclear deal after a decade. Trump has warned Iran to give up nuclear program. President Donald Trump has threatened Iran to face consequences if it does not give up nuclear program. According to White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, Trump’s priority is that Iran should never be able to acquire nuclear weapons. Levitt told during a press briefing last week that President Trump has already made it clear that all options are open in this matter. Iran has two options – either agree to Trump’s demands, or be ready to face serious consequences. This is Trump’s firm sentiment on this issue. Trump gives 60 days’ time to Iran. According to Politico’s report, Trump has given Iran 60 days’ time to agree on a new nuclear deal, otherwise he has warned of military action. This warning was sent to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei through a letter. This letter clearly stated that Tehran will have to be ready for talks with Washington, even if these talks are direct. Otherwise, we will have to face such consequences which can endanger the stability of the Iranian government. Trump has threatened to bomb Iran. Earlier on March 30, Trump had threatened Iran that if it does not reach an agreement on its nuclear program, then America can bomb it. Trump also threatened to impose secondary tariff on Iran. Trump said in an interview to NBC News, if they do not make any deal, there will be bombing. This will be a bombing like they have never seen before. Trump further said- Iran has a chance, if they do not do this, then I will impose secondary tariff on them like 4 years ago. American and Iranian officials are in talks on the nuclear program. However, he did not elaborate on this. Iran has enough uranium to make 6 nuclear bombs. Iran’s bomb-making capacity has increased after Trump canceled the nuclear deal with Iran in 2018. According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran has produced 275 kg of uranium of 60% purity. This is enough to make six nuclear bombs. If there is no agreement between the US and Iran, then by the end of this year, the US or Israel or both can decide to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites. American, Israeli and Arab sources say that Trump will continue the negotiation process for a few months. Trump warned Netanyahu not to make any mistake An Israeli source told The Economist that Trump has warned Netanyahu not to make any mistake during the negotiations on the US-Iran nuclear deal. Israel destroyed its air defense network in response to the Iranian missile attack in October. An Israeli military officer said that Iran is very weak at this time. Earlier Netanyahu was hesitant to order an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites. Now he has no reason to back down except Trump. The Israeli Prime Minister has gained popularity in the country by publicly going against the wishes of other American presidents. But going against Trump’s wishes is extremely difficult. Understand from four major events… why do these two countries keep fighting? 1953 – Coup: This was the year when the hostility between America and Iran began. The American intelligence agency CIA, along with Britain, organized a coup in Iran. The elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeq was removed and power was given to Iran’s Shah Reza Pahlavi. The main reason for this was oil. Mossadeq wanted to nationalize the oil industry. 1979 – Iranian Revolution: A new leader emerged in Iran- Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Khomeini was strongly against westernization and Iran’s dependence on America. Shah Pahlavi was his target. Discontent began to grow in Iran under Khomeini’s leadership. Shah had to leave Iran. On 1 February 1979, Khomeini returned from exile. 1979-81 – Embassy Crisis: Diplomatic relations between Iran and America had ended. Iranian students took over the American Embassy in Tehran. 52 American citizens were held hostage for 444 days. In 2012, a Hollywood film- Argo was released on this subject. Meanwhile, Iraq attacked Iran with the help of America. The war lasted for eight years. 2015 – Nuclear Agreement: During Obama’s tenure as US President, relations between the two countries started improving a bit. A nuclear agreement was signed with Iran, in which Iran talked about limiting its nuclear program. In return, the economic sanctions imposed on it were eased a little, but Trump canceled this agreement after becoming the President. The hostility started again. …………………………………….
