After the defeat in the assembly elections, now the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided not to contest the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. Former Chief Minister Atishi and Delhi party president Saurabh Bhardwaj gave this information on Monday. The election will be held on April 25. In the party’s press conference, both the leaders said that the BJP had stopped the MCD elections earlier as well. During delimitation, the wards were shifted here and there. There was tremendous disturbance and corruption during the delimitation. Despite this, the election was lost and the AAP government was formed. Even after this, a lot of drama was created by the BJP councilors in the MCD meetings. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the BJP is trying to bring our councilors to its side by scaring, threatening and luring them. After which we have decided that this time we will not field our candidate in the mayor election. Bhardwaj said that without any hindrance, the BJP should make its mayor and run the four-engine government without making any excuse and show the work to the people of Delhi. AAP has given a walkover to BJP in the MCD elections. But if elections are held, then the majority is also in favor of BJP. There are 238 councilors in MCD at present. If we add the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, nominated MLAs, then the total strength reaches 262. That means 132 votes are needed to make your own mayor.
