Trump appoints Mike Waltz as UN ambassador; removes him from post of NSA; appoints Secretary of State Marco Rubio as acting NSA

President Donald Trump today announced that he is appointing Mike Waltz as the new United Nations ambassador to the US. Mike Waltz was till now the National Security Advisor. Along with this, Trump has also given the responsibility of the post of National Security Advisor to Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. According to a CNN report, Mike Waltz was going to leave his post soon. This is the first major change after Trump became the President. A source said that earlier this week, Waltz was clearly told that his time is over now. Waltz faced criticism when he mistakenly added a journalist to a chat group in which secret military planning was being discussed. This was a big political mistake and it is believed that this issue may arise during his confirmation for the United Nations post. Waltz, a former MP from Florida, is the first senior officer to leave the White House in Trump’s second term. Donald Trump had changed four NSAs in his first term. First advisor General McMaster could stay in the post for only 22 days. There was an uproar when the plan to attack Houthi rebels was leaked. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth shared the plan to attack Houthi rebels in Yemen on March 15 in a secret group chat on the Signal app 2 hours before the incident. This group was created by Mike Waltz. Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine, was also involved in it. Along with this, US Vice President JD Vance and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio were also included. Jeffrey Goldberg told that he was added to this group chat by mistake. This group was created on the secure messaging app Signal. Which was created by National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. Goldberg wrote that on March 15 at 11:44 am, Hegseth shared information about the attacks on Yemen. Apart from the targets and the weapons to be used, it also contained information about which attack was to be carried out when and where. Mike Waltz is considered to be a supporter of India. Mike Waltz is considered to be an opponent of China-Iran and a supporter of India. He has supported several bills related to reducing America’s dependence on China. Waltz has been a ‘Green Beret Commando’ in the US Army’s Special Unit Force and has also fought a war with the Taliban in Afghanistan. He had strongly opposed the Biden government’s military withdrawal from Afghanistan. He has also served in the Middle East and Africa.
