She says that when people were sleeping in their homes, some brave soldiers were protecting us in exchange for their sleep and life. When a country holds its breath, a different peace is felt in the air. And in the last few days we felt that peace. An anxiety. A mother who knew that her child was facing a night not of lullabies but of uncertainty, stress and a silence that could break in a moment. Alia further wrote for the mothers of soldiers, on Sunday we celebrated Mother’s Day. While we were distributing flowers and hugging, I could not stop myself from thinking about those mothers who raised heroes and carried that pride within us with a little more strength in their spines. Our condolences to those soldiers whose lives were lost, those soldiers who could never return home. Their names are added to the soul of the country today. Hope their families find courage. On the last page of her post, Alia has written, so tonight and every night to come, we hope to reduce the tension and find the peace born of peace.
